The Adi Design Museum & Oluce: 80 Years of Italian Lighting History on View

To mark its 80th anniversary, coincidingwith Milan Design Week 2026, Olucepresents a special exhibition at the ADIDesign Museum, retracing its history and itsdistinguished collaborations through asequence of key pieces.

From 20th April to10th May, visitors will be able to discover some of the lamps that have come to define the brand’s visual identity. Among them is Acrilica, originally created as Colombo 281, Joe Colombo’s first project for Oluce and theonly one developed together with his brother Gianni.

In 1945, designer Giuseppe Ostuni founded Oluce, an Italian company dedicated tolighting. Beyond entrepreneurial ambition, the aim was to innovate Italy’s post-warproduction system through experimentation with new materials and collaborations with leading names in interior design, a choice that led to creations by Tito Agnoli, Marco Zanuso and Joe Colombo.

In 1973, following the transfer of ownership to the Verderi family and under the art direction of Vico Magistretti, the company produced designs by Bruno Gecchelin and Riccardo Dalisi, leading up to Francesco Rota, who was recently appointed as the brand’s creative director.

Today, the exhibition marking Oluce’s 80th anniversary stands at the intersection of a celebrated heritage and a future still in motion. It brings into focus the enduring values of the brand while opening onto new creative horizons.
